RIP Kerry Lay.

Sadly, the PGA lost one of its great supporters from the late 1970’s to the 1990’s when Kerry Lay passed away 2 weeks ago. He was one of life’s great characters, affectionately known as “Bugsy”.

Kerry and his wife Eve owned Universal Electroplaters and manufactured Beta Buggy golf trundlers. As some of our older Club Pros will remember back to those days the support they gave to the PGA pros by way of giving away Beta Buggies as prizes for Pro Ams was much appreciated. They had the Pro Am name painted on the seats of the buggies as a memento for the amateurs who were lucky enough to win one.

Kerry and Eve moved to Mount Maunganui 28 years ago and enjoyed retirement playing at Mount Maunganui G.C.

Sincere condolences and thoughts to Eve.
