Mark Brown struggled through the first nine today but two eagles on the back nine enabled him to score 66 and maintain the lead in the
Carrus Tauranga Open. Browns' round looked headed for trouble on the 13th hole where his drive was bound for the racecourse but it struck a concrete fence post and bounced back in bounds. Brown capitalised on this good furtune and eagled the hole to kick his round into action and he gained another boost when he holed out from 100 metres for a second eagle on the 16th. Mark has had rounds of 70,59 and 66 to lead by a single shot from Wairarapa amateur Kerry Mountcastle 65,67,64 and Lachie McDonald is in third place with rounds of 67,65,65.
