Legends to Play Queenstown Golf Club

Queenstown Golf Club is delighted to confirm that the Club Car Legends Pro Am Queenstown will be held at Kelvin Heights Golf Course on Tuesday the 23rd of February 2010.

It is anticipated that over 40 Professionals aged 50 plus could participate in the event.  The Professionals will split a $10,000 purse.  There will also be significant amateur prizes for the Team Events.  The Tournament is sanctioned by the Australian and New Zealand PGAs as part of their Legends Tour.  The Pro Am should attract plenty of top named professionals. 

Queenstown’s own Jim Lapsley will be participating in the event. "We are looking forward to a fantastic tournament at Kelvin Heights.  It’s a great course, certainly one of the most scenic in the World.  The Competition will be a fun affair for amateurs to participate in.   All of our Tour players will ensure that the amateurs have a great day out". 

 The Club Car Legends Event, Queenstown will count towards the Order of Merit where Jim currently lies in 8th place. 

Other participants on the Legends Tour include Sir Bob Charles, Rodger Davis, Terry Gale, Bob Shearer, Randall Vines, Simon Owen, Stuart Reese, Craig Owen, Peter Senior, Peter Fowler, Mike Harwood and Wayne Grady. 

Terry Sullivan, National Manager of Club Car New Zealand who is the events main Sponsor, said.  ‘We are proud to be associated with the Legends Event at Queenstown Golf Club. It’s a great opportunity to promote our product at a course and part of the Country that is becoming increasingly recognized as a world class golfing destination.’

Jim Clelland, PGA National Events Manager is delighted to be bringing the Senior Players to the South Island and to iconic Queenstown.  "This is the first PGA recognized Tour event to be held at Queenstown Golf Club’s Kelvin Heights and we are thrilled about it."


The format of the team competition is likely to involve 3 amateurs playing with a Tour Pro.  The two best net scores counting on each hole.
